Ever since moving to our townhouse at the end of October and starting my new job the very next day, I’ve been having trouble finding the free time and ideal light to properly break in this new area we live in. Also, there just wasn’t a significant urge that was pushing me to document this cozy little village of a neighborhood. Don’t get me wrong, I was and am still enamored by these new surroundings; especially the whimsical olive, oak, and redwood trees that fill the mini-parks and paths.
I was simply just not feeling inspired enough to take photos. Luckily, this transition period in both my home and work life has been translating into the form of writing and overall project planning, which has proved to be necessary at a time like this.
After a few weeks of living here, a photo project had randomly popped up in my head while I was out walking Olive: a time limit of 45 minutes to take 20 photographs (4x5=20) to be cropped at a 4x5 aspect ratio. And what would be the subject that would get me most acquainted with my new neighborhood? Well, trees of course!
On this past Friday (that I randomly got off from work), the fog had made its way into this side of town and I was obsessing over a newer camera that I am still renting for the rest of this holiday weekend. It was obvious: I had no excuse but to knock this assignment out!
Happy holidays everyone! Take care ~
happy christmas!
