Dead Dreams
a trip to the high desert
In an effort to let the photos do most of the talking, I am going to keep this short: I took a trip in March with some friends down to Lone Pine, California–a small town alongside Highway 395 in Owen’s Valley, halfway between Yosemite & Death Valley. I knew it’d be a surreal landscape (Owen’s Valley is the deepest valley in the US and sits on the western edge of the Great Basin Desert) to experience but man..it was much more than that! I felt like a kid again, rediscovering the world in front of me. And on top of that, it was quite special to get to spend it with some humans whom I regard as my brothers (one of them being my actual brother, haha). Those four days ended up being one of the best trips I have ever taken in my life. And I truly think I made some of my best work to date while I was out there.

Moving freely in a new place.
Nostalgia kicks in,
but it is not a memory..
it is a familiar feeling from my youth.
These days are slower than usual,
and I know this won't last much longer
so I will try my best to hold on
as the sun fills this valley.
This must be what living is all about:
moving freely and reconnecting.
Just maybe one day,
I’ll be as free as this desert dust ~
