The first generation Q is still my day-to-day camera. 8 years old and still giving me pleasure. I agree with you about the simplicity of the controls - it's all we need!
It’s the best camera I’ve ever had. I bought mine second hand from a shop near the British Museum. It was in very good condition. The previous owner was apparently the Rolling Stones’ solicitor!
I have never had a Leica in my hands before, so I can’t understand the hype. The photos are wonderful, but I think that is more about your skills and not about the gear. But yeah those high ISO results are insane!
Honestly, it took me a while to understand even a sliver of the hype. But I gotta admit.. the ergonomics and overall looks of their cameras are so pleasing to my eyes (and to many others', haha). I'm just ready for a bigger investment since I know what I like when it comes to my own photography, if that makes sense. I do think a lot of their cameras are ridiculously priced but hey, a lot of cameras (especially Leicas) retain their value over time.
I appreciate the kind words. I too am blown away by the high ISO results..
I exclusively shoot b&w, well, my camera's screen is set to b&w to see if the photo works like I imagined. Love to have a Leica Q2M but it is far above what I want and can spend. Still hoping Pentax/Ricoh will come with a GR monochrome. Don't know why they put a monochrome sensor in a Pentax DSLR.
I almost fell down the Leica rabbit hole recently II was interested in an SL) but decided that the Fuji X-T3 can do what I need it to perfectly well. The Leica is for another day, and I'd have to carefully choose a bunch of affordable lenses to make it work financially! Can you explain the cropping in the viewfinder in more detail though?
since it only has an EVF (the Q2M not being a rangefinder), you are able to toggle between the standard 24mm frame and the other three cropping options are 35, 50, and 75. if you shoot in raw, the camera still retains the full photo in whatever editing software you use, but when you’re in the field making photos, you’re able to frame it better as if you were cropping your photo in the field. It’s just a nice way to have additional frame lines for different situations! I hope this makes sense! and again, apologies for missing this comment. Substack likes to not notify me at times :/
Hola , Siempre Son Muy Cautivadoras Tus Fascinantes Fotografías. Un Saludo.
thank you!
photos look good but regarding the gear i always said: whatever works for you, it's ok.
I agree and totally see that now! It our own process after all
Some very fine photos.

thank you!! Very stoked on how many “good” photographs I made in just a week.
And that is awesome!! That solidifies my decision even more haha. The design both inside and out is perfectly simple.

well that is freaking cool!! Makes it even more special.
I’ll def be buying my secondhand regardless 🤘

that’s my setup with the xpro2 as well but to be honest, the tonalities just don’t compare! It has served me well for 3 years but the time has come..
and yeah, I look forward to more monochrome cameras entering the market in the future! 📷
