Thank you, Charlie! I feel the same here in Northern California. Where are you located?
It's quite sad to see corners of our world become so devastated depending on the season and disasters that occur. We can only hope and dig deeper to see the sides of Mother Nature that are undeniably resilient. Plus, it's a reminder for me to treat the environment I am in with more love and tenderness!
We are south of Bend, OR and every year for the last 10 have had massive fires. My cousin lived in Paradise, CA for 25 years and now near Laguna Beach. It is sad for sure. Those who could actually legislate today to slow make changes, got their hand in the pot so change will be slow.
it’s very unfortunate and frustrating with how multi-layered and conflicting the politics are when it comes to these disasters and how to mitigate and/or protect ourselves. These events are only happening more and more regularly..

You are absolutely right! Never forgotten.. the smell imprinted in our brains. It's hard to have hope when it feels like the world is burning up all around us :/

Thank you so so much :')
Excellent essay. It really hits home for me because I can drive an hour in most directions around us and see similar destruction and devastation.
